Cupcakes with my Fur-baby

This past Monday our baby Harley had his man-parts removed. As sad as we were to put him though this experience, it was most certainly necessary. (Trust me, one Harley in this world is enough!) He did wonderfully with his surgery, as well as the recovery. He was a little loopy the first night, but by the next morning he was back to his normal crazy self!
Poor guy is stuck with a cone on for the next 2 weeks!
Breaks my heart to see how unhappy this cone makes him.

Yes I do!

This morning I had a craving for Sprinkles cupcakes, so of course I had to make the half hour drive to La Jolla to get some for the house! (Yes, I am that in love with cupcakes that I'll drive 30 minutes for them!) Just ask Josh I could honestly eat cupcakes for every meal.  I would like to think that cupcakes and wine should be a food group of their own!
Yum! I already ate one!
They even have doggie cupcakes!
So cute! Perfect for a post surgery treat!
Harley loves cupcakes just like his momma!

Have You Ever Had a Horse In Your Backseat?!

Today it was my duty to take my great big, 5 month old, 70lbs baby to the vet. Have you ever had to get a small horse into a small SUV?!?  Unless you own a mini horse or are a fellow Great Dane owner, then I'm going to guess no!
I want to start this story by stating that Harley and I were not on the best of terms last evening before I left for work. He may or may not have peed on the spare bed and I may or may not have been furious. (I will let you make assumptions on how we ended things before I went to work.) So the vibe between Harley and I was already tense this morning because the episode that may or may not have happened the night before was still pretty fresh.  Though we still needed to deal with each other to get to the vet. To start this fun experience out, I want to give you a visual of how things were going down. You have myself who is barely breaking 5'0" and Harley who is 70lbs and can put his front paws on my shoulders. The size factor was not in my favor today, but lets face it I am the boss and Harley was going to listen to me one way or the other. So we got into the garage, Harley was so excited because he had free run on all the socks, little did he know what was to come.  I then had to ever so slyly get his leash on and coax him near the  car. Harley HATES car rides, and I mean I can kind of understand I wouldn't enjoy not fitting on the seat properly and being to clumsy to stand and look out the window.  The moment the car door opened Harley took off in the opposite direction (grand) and in my failed attempt to catch him I tried to pick him up (Fail, 1 point Harley's size, 0 points Chelsea's size) After a few sprints around the car he finally gave in and I was able to kind of shove him into the back seat.
Finally we are on the road (only a 10 minute set back) and everything is going just fine. Then all the sudden I feel something cool and slimy drip down my arm. I turn and all I see is a huge black, slobbery face staring back at me. I actually burst out laughing, it seriously was as if I had a horse in my back seat. We got to the vets office with little problem, Harley was his normal social self greeting everyone as they walked in. (On a side note, Harley nearly took the head off of a Jack Russel Ha, I had to silently laugh and how big Harley's paws were in comparison to the little Jack's head! Harley's size 2 points, everyone/thing else 0 points! )
After the vet we packed up to head home, getting into the car this time around was a breeze, It wasn't until we were about 5 minutes away from the house that I knew trouble was brewing. Harley started to slobber uncontrollably, I mean buckets of slobber! I started to panic I knew what followed this and I did NOT want to clean my car out today. So I crossed my fingers and by some luck we made it home. (Just in time, and I mean JUST IN TIME!)
Look at my big baby!

So for the rest of the day Harley and I have stationed ourselves to our favorite spots on the couch and will be watching True Blood reruns for the rest of the day!

(PS if anyone was concerned Harley is as healthy as a "horse"!)

We Went Wine Tasting!

For those of you who know me and know me well, you know that I am a sucker for a good glass of wine! (and sometimes 2 or 3! Ha)  Since Josh and I started dating I have continuously tried to get him into wine. Most times in the past when I urged him to get a glass of wine he stated it tastes like hes drinking a magic marker and opted for a beer instead. I finally had success when we first visited San Diego a year ago and we went wine tasting in Temecula. It was like he had a total change of heart! (Secret win in my book!) From that point on, though he wasn't  a total wino, I was able to get him to have a glass here and there with me.
We had such a good time in Temecula the first trip, I have been requesting (more like begging) we go back up again. Unfortunately, with Josh's crazy schedule with the ship and the fact that he had been working Monday-Saturday, we usually didn't have an entire day to devote to driving up to Temecula.
This past weekend was different though, FINALLY Josh's schedule has become more normal. He even had this past Friday off ( THE ENTIRE DAY!! AHH!), I knew this was the perfect opportunity to head up to Temecula for some wine! And tasting wine was what we did, we got to visit 3 different vineyards and enjoy many many glasses of delicious wines! I was in my glory, good wine, beautiful surroundings, and good friends. It was definitely a pretty good day in my book!

The flowers at this vineyard were beautiful!

Trivia Night

Last night Josh and I went to play trivia at The Local bar downtown with some friends. I am in no way a trivia buff, but it was still so much fun! Josh was pretty into the competition while I was probably more into chatting and enjoying a beer! (I must say I did excel on my states and capitals!)
Me and Maggie!

Cute smile babe
Chris and Maggie deciding how much to wager

Thinking hard on a math question
My congrats for knowing my states and capitals!

Here's our team!

We took 4th place last night! I think we did pretty good having one of the smallest teams! Win or lose I was still great to get out and spend time with good friends.

Relaxing Monday

Josh has been away on the ship for the past few days and I've been feeling a little, I guess you could say, melancholy.
This is how I've been feeling!

Yesterday I wasted a perfectly beautiful day moping around until I had to get ready for work.
So today I was determined to be a little more cheerful, productive, and enjoy another BEAUTIFUL day. (Before heading off to night shift round 2!)

The weather here in San Diego never fails to amaze me each and every day. It could be a gloomy, foggy morning and by noon BAM its 70 and sunny! Who can complain about that!?
I mean look at this view!
So beautiful!

My second task of the day was to spend time with my fur baby Harley.  We napped on the couch together and got to enjoy the sunshine and ocean breeze. I'm so lucky just look at this handsome stud!

I love this big goofy guy!

My third task before heading off to work was to clean and organize the kitchen. I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but in our house we tend to accumulate cereal. I believe we have 8 boxes of half finished cereal! Its one of those grocery store items that we always buy yet never really need (proably because we have 8 boxes! Ha)

This is so unnecessary, but I feel so guilty throwing it all away. Anyone in the San Diego area want to come over for a cereal buffet!?

Also in my kitchen, these beautiful $5 hydrangeas! Trader Joe's does it again! Not only do I love their produce, but their flowers are beautiful and affordable! I can not go shopping there without picking up some up.
I love fresh flowers!
Have a lovely evening!

Sunday Funday's

Sunday happens to be our very favorite day of the week. Josh and I do not get to see each other much during the week. He works until around 5:30pm and I work night shift, so on some nights we only see each other in passing. Sunday has become our day to enjoy spending time with each other.  Its our day to relax, reflect on the past week and look forward to the week ahead.

Josh is off and I try to do whatever I can to schedule myself off on Sundays, so that we can take part in our normal Sunday "funday" activities. Those activities can range from exploring around San Diego, laying on the beach, spending time with friends, or laying around on the couch in our pajamas all day.

This past Sunday it was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day in San Diego. We took full advantage of the great day, and had a cook out with our close friends Ashley and Roberto.

Awkward staged photo! Ha!
More normal
Relaxing
Poor Shadow was so scared of Harley. He hid under the table from him all night!
"Josh save me!!"
Momma and baby!

I could not have asked for a better day in March! (Josh and I both are from Pittsburgh, PA so normally in March it's raining, cold, and/or snowing! We are truly loving the weather out here!)
